Manhattan-Alfred A. Schlansker, 84, of Manhattan, died May 2, 2008, after a brief illness. Born in Schenectady, son of the late Alfred H. and Fanny Krage Schlansker, he graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and worked for a brief time at General Electric before moving to New York City, where he graduated from New York Institute of Interior Design. Al worked for several fabric houses and interior design studios in New York City including, Baker Furniture, Hadleigh Inc. and Macy's Furniture. He retired in 1994. Al is survived by his sister, Ellen Martin; three brothers, Theodore Schlansker, Richard Schlansker and his wife, Ellen, Norman Schlansker and his wife, Marjorie; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews; special cousin, Mary Ellen Brinkman and her husband Theodore, and long time friend, Robert Philipson. There will be no calling hours. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial contribution's in memory of Alfred may be made to Alzheimer's Research or to Parkinson's Research.
