Anthony J. Capogna, (Tony Capone), 90, WW II Air Force Veteran, died Wednesday December 3, 2014 at Ellis Hospital after a long illness.
Anthony was born in Schenectady, NY on January 31, 1924, son of Henry and Adeline Cariatelle Capogna. A graduate of Nott Terrace High School, he joined the Army Air Force at the age of 19, in 1943 and became a navigator 1st Lieutenant and served with the Bomber Ferry Command to Scotland, England and Greenland. Retired as a Gas Turbine Technician after 43 year from General Electric.
Anthony was a locally well know golfer and bowler and was known to family as "The Handyman".
Anthony is survived by his son, Thomas of Schenectady; Brother, Victor of Scotia; grandchildren Daniel Capogna of Glenville, Heather Mason (Capogna) of Esperance and great grandchildren.
Anthony was predeceased by his wife Doris Capogna (Conkiln) of 45 years; his brothers, Frank, Joseph, Raymond and Armond.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Monday, December 8th at 10 AM at the Jones 1503 Union St. (at McClellan St.). Calling hours will be on Sunday from 5 PM to 7 PM at the funeral home for those who wish to call. Burial with Military honors will the service in Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie.
