Dorothy Dietrich

Schenectady- Dorothy Key Dietrich of North Street in Schenectady's Stockade District died unexpectedly on April 1, 2009.
Dorothy was born in Michigan to George and Edith Key on August 1, 1920. She married Boyd Klopfenstine, US Marine aviator. Boyd was killed in a dive-bomber raid in 1942.
Dorothy met Neff Dietrich at the University of Michigan and they married in June 1946 after Neff graduated from the US Navel Academy.
She had a BA in English from the University of Michigan, 1946. She studied at Cranbrook Art Institute and many years later got her MA in Fine Arts from SUNY Albany. She was an art teacher in the Schenectady Public School system.
Dorothy was active in the art community and the Stockade Association. She had been the editor of The Stockade Spy. She had been the curator of the Schenectady Museum.
Dorothy is survived by her husband Neff, daughter Dinah, son David and his wife Gail; two grandchildren, Andrew and his wife Jaime; and Hanna, one great granddaughter Olivia and her brothers Anthony and Cedric Stohr.
A visitation will be held at the Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St. (at McClellan St.), Schenectady on Tuesday April 7th from 4 PM to 6 PM.
