Florida - Edgar Rice Ewing 76, of Dunnellon, FL died on Wednesday, November 18th, 2009, after a nine-week hospital stay while vacationing in Las Vegas, NV.
Born in Albany, NY, he was the son of Margaret Ewing Levy & Edgar Rice Ewing, Sr. Ed graduated from Roessleville High School, and went on to serve in the US Navy. While serving in the Navy, Ed married the love of his life, Shirley Lansley Ewing in 1954, and after service they lived in Colonie NY, Suffern NY, and Dunnellon FL. Ed retired from Major Liquor Distributors in 1997, and became an active volunteer for the Veteran's Administration, the Share Program, and the Perfect Attendance Program at Dunnellon Elementary School.
Ed is survived by his wife, Shirley, his sister Virginia Ewing Plant ( Townsend Plant), his brother William Levy ( Kathy Levy), his sons Ed Ewing, Michael Ewing ( Loretta Ewing), Bruce Ewing ( Andrew Conlu) and Greg Ewing ( Kate Ewing), grandchildren Karen Ewing, Brian Ewing, Jason Ewing & Marc Ewing, as well as many in-laws, nieces & nephews.
Entombment in Bushnell Veterans Cemetery in Florida.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be sent to the American Heart Association.
