Willsboro-Edward Joos 94, former resident of Schenectady, died Friday December 24, 2010 at Elizabethtown Hospital after being stricken at home.
Ed was born at 16 Grove Place, Schenectady, son of the late Harry and Helene Bodenstab Joos. He graduated from Nott Terrace High School and Bentley College, with a degree in Accounting. As a teenager and into his 20's, Ed worked at his fathers business, Joo's Meat Market on Schenectady St..
Ed was drafted into the U.S. Army February 28, 1941, he participated in campaigns in North Africa, Europe and Italy. He was honorably discharged September 6, 1945.
Ed worked at Sealtest in Schenectady, then Beechnut Foods in Canajoharie where he was then transferred to Memphis, Tenn. working in the accounting department, in charge of property and equipment. The company then merged with Nabisco-Squibb. Ed retired in Aprill of 1979 to his home in Willboro, NY. He was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Schenectady.
Ed is survived by nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents; 2 sisters, Marie Joos Behrens and Dacy Joos Brand; 2 brothers, George and Walter Joos.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Wednesday, December 29th at Noon at the Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St., (at McClellan St.), Schenectady. A calling hour will be held on Wednesday from 11 AM to the time of the service for those who wish to call. Burial with Military honors will be in the family plot in Historic Vale Cemetery.
