Eileen I. Alessandrini

d. October 28, 2015

Eileen I. Alessandrini, 94, of Niskayuna, NY died October 28, 2015 at home, surrounded by friends and family.
Eileen was born in Schenectady, daughter of the late John and Emma Bartoli Alessandrini. She graduated from Mont Pleasant High School and Barnard College (Columbia University) with a Master's degree in Physics. Upon graduation, she began her career at what is now GE Global Research in Niskayuna, and then continued her work at IBM as a Research Scientist. As one of a handful of women engaged in research at this level at the time, she was passionate about her career.
Eileen was pre-deceased by her sister, Joyce Alessandrini. They enjoyed 25 years of traveling together after retirement, as well as many philanthropic activities. Eileen was involved with Proctor's Theater Guild, and with her sister, founded a full-tuition, music talent scholarship at SCCC that continues presently. She was a longstanding member of the Edison Club and enjoyed many happy hours with the bridge group there. Eileen was actively involved in the Democratic Party. She will be sadly missed by her many friends and family.
