Schenectady-Elizabeth Strain McMahon 91, of Schenectady, formerly of Pittsburgh, died peacefully June 3, 2008, at Ellis Hospital. Born in Springfield, Ohio, daughter of the late Ralph and Carrie Ross Strain. Loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Predeceased by her husband Alfonso Opipare and Harold McMahon. Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Frances Opipare Bendick; grandchildren, Allan, Elizabeth, Anthony and John; nine great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brother and sister. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Eucharist of the Resurrection on Tuesday morning at 11 AM at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, The Plaza, Schenectady with the Rev. James Brooks-McDonald officiating. Calling hours will be Sunday from 5 PM to 8 PM and Monday from 5 PM to 8 PM at the Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St., (at McClellan St.), Schenectady for those who wish to call. Memorial contributions in Elizabeth's memory may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12304. Burial will be in Park View Cemetery, Schenectady.
