Elizabeth "Betty" Serrell passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Ellis Hospital with her family by her side. She was 77.
Born in Plattsburgh on May 3, 1934, daughter of the late William B. and Mildred Way Serrell.
Betty was a parishioner at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Schenectady. She loved cooking for family and friends and was always happy to talk on the phone.
Survivors include her loving companion, William Simonelli of Mechanicville, her brother in law James Coton of Scotia, her sister in law Barbara Serrell of Rotterdam, her nephews, James A. Coton Jr. of Rutland, VT and Timothy H. Coton of Voorheesville and her nieces, Lisa A. Weaver of Rotterdam and Angela M. Serrell of Schenectady. Also survived by her great niece and nephews, Diana Weaver, Jeff Coton, Nicholas Coton and Justin Coton as well as her long time friend Mary "Betty" Pratt.
In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her niece, Kim Coton, her sister, Dolores Coton and her brother Wayne Serrell.
Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 9:00 AM on Saturday, January 7th at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2777 Albany Street, Schenectady. Burial will be in the family plot in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna, New York. There will be no calling hours.
Memorials in Betty's honor may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211.
