Niskayuna - Fred O. Dutcher 81, of Niskayuna, died at home on Wednesday, August 27, 2008.
Born in Northampton, NY on March 27, 1927, he was the son of the late Fred and Ruth Johnson Dutcher. Fred was a graduate of Northville High School, served in the Army in France and Belgium from 1947 to 1950, and went on to graduate from Syracuse University with a BA and MA. He was a well respected and a well liked Teacher and Principal in the Schenectady Public Schools for 28 years.
Survived by his son, Fred J. Dutcher and his wife Shelley of Denver, CO; long time companion, Judith Kiernan of Niskayuna, NY; a nephew, William Jodoin and his wife Terry of Coventry, RI and special family friend Nancy Jodoin of Mayfield, NY. Fred was predeceased by his wife, Virginia Gogola Dutcher in 1960 his daughter Linda Anne Dutcher in 1978 and his two sisters, June (George) Vollmer and Echo Jodoin.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial on Tuesday, September 2nd, at 11 AM at St. Helen's Church, Niskayuna. There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions in Fred's memory may be made to St. Helen's School, 1801 Union St., Niskayuna, NY 12309 or to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211, or to a charity of your choice.
