Schenectady - Geraldine Gallagher-Lopez 69, passed away on June 22, 2008.
Born in Albany, NY she was the daughter of the late John B. and Margaret Dillon Gallagher. She is survived by her daughter and 2 sons, JoAnne (Carl) Donaldson, John Lopez and James (Ninna) Lopez, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Leo (Sue) Gallagher and 2 sisters, Mary and Patricia and many nieces and nephews.
Geri worked for the State for many years before retiring, then worked for H & R Block for several years. She was truly a very quiet, kind, nurturing, gentle, loving woman who always had a smile on her face and who was always there when you needed help.
Geri loved the arts, music, reading, traveling, needlepoint, cooking and painting. She was a member of The First Unitarian Society of Schenectady where she was a very active member. She was also a longtime volunteer in the community for Hospice, Schenectady Civic Players, SPAC, Proctor's and was the treasurer for the Friends of Schenectady Public Library.
The burial will be private.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life at the First Unitarian Society of Schenectady, 1221 Wendell Ave. Schenectady, NY 12308 on Sunday, July 13, 2008 at 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her honor to the First Unitarian Society or The Schenectady County Public Library, 99 Clinton St., Schenectady, NY 12305-2083.
