Niskayuna, NY.- Govind Raj Amritmahal, 88, of Niskayuna, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2010, at 10:45 a.m. surrounded by those who loved him most. After struggling with many health problems, he passed on peacefully under the watchful eyes of Lord Krishna. He took his final breath surrounded by his daughters, grandchildren and son-in-law. Govind lived in Niskayuna for the past six years, in which he made many friends and became part of the community.
Govind was born on June 30, 1921 in Tumkur, India to Ananda Bai and B T Char. He had a fulfilling career working in the United Nations and the World Bank. His career path led to many moves and travels, including all around India, Indonesia, Thailand and the United States. He made many friends that he kept close till the very end.
He is survived by his two wonderful daughters, Anjali Singh and Shrilata Nath, and their respective husbands, Umesh Singh and Shridhar Nath. He was blessed with four lovely grandchildren: Kaajal, Vijay, Maya and Kartik. Govind was the brother of Lakshmi Dwarkanath and Rama Amritmahal Laws.
