Niskayuna
Helen Louise Friderici, 94, passed away on October 11, 2024 after a long illness. She was born September 13, 1930 in Fort Plain, NY to Charles and Marie Stewart.
Following graduation from Fort Plain Central School she earned a baccalaureate degree from Cornell University. She then moved to Middleburg,NY where she taught kindergarten.
Upon her marriage to Dr. Arthur J. Friderici, she moved to Niskayuna NY where he had a veterinary practice.
Helen had a keen sense of humor and was interested in genealogy, the history of the Mohawk Valley and had a love of the arts.
In addition to being an avid reader she was a talented artist . Her work has appeared and received prizes in several upstate NY art shows. Her art journey began
decades ago when she became interested in jewelry making. She then studied Chinese brush painting for several years, subsequently broadening her painting interests and skill.
In addition to artwork, Helen loved singing and music. She was a member of the Mohawk Valley Chorus and the choir and bell choir of the Niskayuna Reformed Church.
Helen touched many lives and will be dearly missed. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur, Her son James in August 2024, her parents, her sister Roseann Stewart, and her brothers Archie and Walter Stewart.
She is survived by her son Charles Friderici of Niskayuna NY, her sister Cynthia Stewart of Ann Arbor MI, and several nieces and nephews.
The family is most grateful for and appreciative of the love, kindnesses, care and support of family and friends, the staff of Home Instead, and members of the Niskayuna Volunteer Fire Department, District 2.
Helen has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at the Niskayuna Reformed Church on Friday, October 18th at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Niskayuna Reformed Church or a charity of one's choice.
