Hermann Alfred Lintner

Hermann A Lintner passed away on July 20, 2017. He was 86. He was born in Miami on January 10, 1931 to Hermann and Hertha (Muerer) Lintner. He is survived by his children Diane (Paul) Hibbard, David (Kate) Lintner, and Michele (Mike) Sposili and grandchildren Rebecca Hibbard, Michael and Matthew Lintner, Lauren and Alison Sposili, his sister Carlene Rhodes and multiple nieces and nephews. Herm follows his beloved wife of more than 60 years Sonia (Marcussen) Lintner and his late brother Alfred C. Lintner into the big sailing club in heaven.
Herm grew up in Haddon Heights NJ a devoted lifelong fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. He attended Ursinus College. There he was a two sport athlete, captain of the football team and most importantly met the love of his life, Sonia. He was a patriot and a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving 1952-1956 while earning a Master's Degree (Meteorology) from MIT. He remained in the USAF Reserves while starting his 30 year career with GE. This took him and his family throughout the northeast, culminating in more than 30 years in Niskayuna. Following his "retirement" he founded a tech company, did systems consulting, and was a certified arbitrator helping consumers resolve conflicts with automobile manufacturers.
Hermann's passions were his family, sailing, and service to others. He exemplified the virtue of hard work, and lived by / taught the credos of "always do your best", "never quit", and "always do the right thing". He taught his children to compete fiercely but fairly in athletics and in life. He lived what he taught, together with Sonia founding a scholarship at Ursinus to help others succeed, and being active in his church, Rotary Club, school boards, advisory committees, and Y Knot Adaptive Sailing to name but a few.
His favorite activity was racing sailboats, including at Fair Haven Yacht Club, Cedar Point Yacht Club, Otsego Sailing Club in Cooperstown and the Lake George Yacht Club providing years of family fun, competitive sportsmanship, and lifelong friendships.
Hermann will be buried in a private service with military honors at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.

All are welcome at the celebration of his wonderful life of love, loyalty, and service to be held at his and Sonia's favorite establishment: LT's Grill, 2305 Nott St, Niskayuna NY on Monday, August 14 2017, 3:30 -6 pm. A short memorial service will be held at 4:30 pm. Bring your favorite Herm stories, an appetite, and a smile.
