Howard Emil Braungart

Niskayuna Howard Emil Braungart, 96, formally of Niskayuna, more recently of Kingsway Community, belovedhusband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away July 25, 2023, after a brief illness.
Born in Syracuse, New York on November 5, 1926, he was the son of Emil Braungart and Helen Lynch Braungart Seaman. At the age of 15, he and his family moved from Syracuse to Schenectady. He graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1944 and began working for General Electric. He enlisted in the Navy February 16, 1945, and was stationed in Portland, Oregon, for part of his enlistment during WWII, working on the newly developed radar system. He was discharged from the Navy on August 2, 1946. Upon his return, he completed studies at General Electric technical school and worked for General Electric for 44 years in the Research and Development Lab.
He married Millicent Frances Rouse on October 30, 1948, and was a devoted husband and father. He and Millicent were avid square dancers for 35 years and enjoyed taking road trips on the east coast. Howard was a member of Eastern Parkway United Methodist Church where he volunteered on several committees. The American Red Cross recognized him for donating a significant amount of blood as a universal donor. He enjoyed bowling and golfing and was a very enthusiastic NY Mets baseball fan.
Howard is predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Millicent; son-in-law, Jay Carmody; and siblings, Francis, Helen, Edmund and Joan.
Howard is survived by his daughters, Jacqueline Braungart Carmody, Susan (David) Maulucci; eight grandchildren; 3 bonus grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; sister Ann (Jim) Shave; sister-in-law Elizabeth Braungart; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Parkland Garden Apartments and Kingsway Arms Nursing Center for their loving care. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a service to celebrate Howard's life on Saturday, September 16, 2023, with Pastor David Maulucci officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:30 A.M. with service to follow at 12:30 P.M. at Jones Funeral Home, 2020 Central Avenue, Albany, NY 12205. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie, NY.
