Janice B. Zumbo

January 8, 1933 — March 19, 2013

Janice Blondin Zumbo, 80, of Niskayuna New York, passed away on March 19, 2013, with her family at her side, after a long illness. Janice was born on January 8, 1933 in Burlington, Vermont. She was the loving wife of the late Dr. Orazio R. Zumbo. She was the daughter of the late Robert Hanley Blondin and Marie Sanborn Blondin. Janice is survived by her six children: Dr. Ann Zumbo of Bloomsberg, Pennsylvania; Katherine Pierotti of Scotia, New York; Vincent Zumbo of Albany, New York; Mary Zumbo of Niskayuna, New York; Janice Ganz of Pleasantville, New York; and Robert Zumbo of Albany, New York; and six grandchildren: Marissa Zumbo, Sara and Christina Pierotti, Rachel and Matthew Ganz and Maria Zumbo; her nephew Patrick DeMurio of Albany, New York; and close family friend Michael Longo of Rotterdam, New York.
Janice was a graduate of the St. Peter's School of Nursing, Albany New York. She was a pediatric nurse at St. Peters until the birth of her first child. After raising her family, Janice returned to work as an RN in the Nuclear Medicine Departments of Ellis Hospital in Schenectady New York.
Janice was a kind and compassionate person with a delightful and fun sense of humor. She loved being with her family, caring for her grandchildren, the adventures of travel, quilting and football.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions in Janice's memory be made to the Albany Medical Center Pediatrics Center.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM on Saturday April 13, 2013 with service to follow at 10:00 AM at the Jones Funeral Home. Private burial will immediately follow.
