Marion A. Crookes

Niskayuna-Marion Horstmyer Crookes 96, former resident of 1820 Union Street, Niskayuna, died on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center .
Marion was born in her family home, January 29, 1913, daughter of William F. and Alice Droms Horstmyer.
She graduated from Schenectady High School, worked at Greens Ice Cream Co. on upper Union St. and also worked as a Bookkeeper at the Edison Club for many years and retired in 1972. She was predeceased by her husband, retired Niskayuna Police Chief, Clifford J. Crookes in 1995 and her son C. James Crookes in 1999.
Marion was a member of Eastern Parkway United Methodist Church and Circle "B".
Survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer Thompson of Brighton, CO, Christopher Crookes and his wife Stacy of Phoenix, AZ; great granddaughter, Ashton Thompson, Joel Thompson, Maci Crookes, Makenzie Crookes Makaylie Crookes and several nieces and nephews. Also survived by her dear friends Lauretta and Steven LeFevre and predeceased by her brothers and sisters.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Tuesday morning at 11 AM at Eastern Parkway United Methodist Church with Rev. Steven Smith officiating. There will be no calling hours.
Burial will be at Niskayuna Reformed Cemetery next to her husband and son.
