Patricia W. Bennett

Patricia Whalen Bennett 83, formerly of Spearhead Drive, Scotia, died on October 17, 2012 at Ellis Hospital after an extended illness. Born on November 17, 1928 in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late William and H. Hazel Heider Whalen.
Patricia graduated from local schools including Mont Pleasant High School and Spencer Business School. She was a career employee for 38 years of the ORIGINAL Carl Co. Department Store, retiring in 1983 as Division Merchandise Manager, Assistant Treasurer and Vice-President. Patricia was involved in many community activities, including past Board member of The Schenectady Boys Club and The Schenectady Girl Scouts, past Treasurer of the Carlilian Foundation, and past member of The Zonta Club, the Schenectady Professional Women's Club and The Mohawk Golf Club. She was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Patricia is survived by her loving husband, Charles D. Bennett, whom she married on September 25, 1983. She was the widow of Francis E. Morhous, who died in 1978. She also is survived by her stepsons, Father Robert Morhous of Spencer, MA, and Robert Bennett and Drew Bennett of Schenectady. In addition she is survived by her dear first cousins, Lillian Smith, Ruth Keyser and Glenn Heider, all of the Schenectady area, Berenice Perkis of Florida and Lois Deans of California.
The funeral will be Monday, October 22, 2012 at 11 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1850 Union St., Niskayuna with interment at Memory Gardens. Relatives and friends may also call at the church on October 22, 2012 from 9:30 am to 11 am.
In celebration of her life, contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church or The City Mission of Schenectady, 425 Hamilton St., Schenectady, NY 12305.
