Paul L. Abbey, age 84, passed away in Tucson, AZ, on December 18th, 2013.
The son of Donald and Lillian Abbey of Burlington, VT, he was a graduate of Burlington High School and the University of Vermont with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering. Upon graduation he served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked for the General Electric Company in various locations, retiring from Gas Turbine Controls in Schenectady, NY.
He was married to Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Helzer Abbey who predeceased him.
He is survived by his son, Peter D. Abbey of Tucson, his sister Faith N. Abbey, of Philadelphia, and a brother Bruce J. Abbey of Syracuse, as well as three loving granddaughters, Laura, Sarah and Brooke, of Tucson, and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was an avid skier, sailor and outdoorsman, a good friend to all and an honorable man.
Visitation will be from 10 AM till Noon, Monday the 23rd of Dec at the Jones Funeral Home in Schenectady and interment will follow at 1:30 PM at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
