Schenectady- Rita McGee Carmel, former resident of McClellan Street, died Friday, October 9, 2009 at Ellis Hospital with her loving children at her side.
Born in Tamaqua, PA, daughter of the late John and Mary Ellen Shields McGee. Educated in Pennsylvania, moved to Schenectady in 1947. Mrs. Carmel was a World War II Veteran, a member of Annie Shaffer Senior Citizen in Schenectady, St. Clare's Hospital Volunteer and a member of St. Helen's Church.
Wife of the Late Arthur K. Carmel who died March 3, 1992.
Survived by one daughter, Mary Ellen Dondero and her husband Daniel of Norwood, MA.; one son, Peter A. Carmel of Schenectady; one granddaughter Catherine Dondero; also survived by two nieces and many nephews. Predeceased by her four sisters and one brother.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass of Christian burial on Tuesday November 3, 2009 at 9 AM at St. Helen's Church. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterford, NY, with her loving husband Arthur.
