Robert B. Gilbert

Schenectady- Robert B. Gilbert 83, of Schenectady, passed away Saturday June 28, 2014 at Ellis Hospital. Bob was born in Schenectady, a son of the late George and Mary Barker Gilbert.
He was an Army Veteran during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Bob went on to graduate from Northwestern University in 1955 and Albany Law School in 1958. Bob partnered up with J.F. Heaword Robinson where they formed a partnership of Robinson and Gilbert Attorneys in 1958 and Bob retired in 1992.
Bob was a member of the Schenectady Bar Association, Schenectady Rotary and Schenectady Chamber of Commerce. He was also a former member of Schenectady Industrial Corp Board, former President of the Park View Cemetery Board, and a former member of Union Presbyterian Church.
Bob is survived by his wife Mary Alice Faraone Gilbert. his daughter Leisa Pfenning and son Kenneth F. Gilbert. Grandchildren Kara, Kristofer, Kaelyn and Kevin Pfenning; his cousin Janet Gardner and her husband Richard; his step daughter, Marilyn Kumra and her sons; Udey (Jody), Nikhil, and Ajay and 1 step greatgrandson Liam. Predeceased by his brother Gerald Gilbert.
There will be no calling hours per Bob's request and burial will be private at Park View Cemetery Urn Garden. Memorial donations in Bob's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
