Sharon Koch

d. September 25, 2017

Sharon J. Koch, 68, peacefully entered her Savior's loving arms Monday, September 25, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Sharon was born in Schenectady, NY, the daughter of the late George and Helen Koch. She graduated from Colonie Central High School, and Schenectady County Community College, earning an associate degree in accounting. She was a bookkeeper for several years. Despite her crippling arthritis and poor vision,
Sharon delighted in creating multiple crafts with amazing precision including, quilting, sewing, ornament-making, quilling, counted-cross stitch, and scrapbooking. Taking pictures, shopping, and spending some time in the Outer Banks, each year, were always high on her list of priorities. Sharon was an active, lifelong member of the Wesleyan Church, first in Watervliet, and then in Niskayuna, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School classes. In her intimate and continual relationship with her Lord, Sharon maintained a positive attitude and a joyful spirit throughout her life.
She is survived by her loving family; brothers Douglas (Judy) Koch of Niskayuna, Richard (Cindy) Koch of Altamont, and sister Sandra (George) Gottsanner of East Greenbush; nieces and nephews Sherri (Douglas) Price, Douglas M. (Alana) Koch, Tonya (Darren) Duncan, Kristi Falace, Dale (Toni) Koch, Jennie (Eric) Fialkoff, Shawn (Amy) Koch, Russell Koch, John Koch, Tina (Nik) Tarquinio, Nicole Koch, and 20 grandnieces and grandnephews. Aunts Elsie Turon, and Martha Turon, and several cousins.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, September 28, 2017, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 29, 2017, at Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St., Schenectady.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Community Hospice, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205, and the City Mission of Schenectady, 425 Hamilton St., Schenectady, NY 12305.
